Britblog Round Up 110

Hello,
Welcome to the 110th Britblog Round Up. Lot's of fantastic stuff for you to cast your beady old eyes over.

First up we have The Ill Man lamenting the decline of Scottish crime drama Taggart and let's face facts, it was never that braw to begin with.

Moving on to more serious matters Liberal England reflects on the sad and untimely death of Bob Woolmer and despairs at the expansion of the state and unfit for purpose Home Office into yet more areas of our lives. In fact John Reid is sat here watching even as I type.

Yet another word off the list if you don't want to offend -well who exactly? A hypersensitive five year old? Oh no it's Dr Mohammed Seddon and David Davies.

A review of a book about a rather terrifying 'what if' scenario (fiction mercifully).

Just what can our Olly be talking about? I must say I'm baffled. Let's move on and stick the boot into Gordon Brown instead. After what he's done to the price of fags I'd quite happily poke his other eye out. Central News casts a sceptical eye over Gordon's plans for carbon and makes a good point about the poorest among us being stung by the latest budget (It really is an excellent point and one that seems to have been overlooked- do give it a read). David Duff is unimpressed by David Cameron's performance against Brown and feels a grudging admiration for the Chancellor's political sleekitness. SJ Howard 'treats' us to exclusive footage of the chancellors search for inspiration. I'd really rather he hadn't. Yuck!

Sunny over at Pickled Politics looks at the National Secular Society and suggests a change of name.

Mr Eugenides brings us news of The Guardian's attempts to review a film. Here's a free tip from me try watching the bloody film without turning it into a statement. Anyway it sounds ace as 'racist gore fests' go.

Sadly I missed Ulrika's eye-opening investigation into her sex addiction. Thankfully Ms Melancholy didn't. Read and despair or just laugh like a drain.

The Quiet Road attempts to save the English language from the internet. I shall now be swanning about banging about fora at every opportunity and people will marvel at my learning. Oh yes.

How about a nice half-time summary of the whole Iraq business? Seems it's all gone a bit wrong.

Speaking of sport Flying Rodent tackles The Guardian on their coverage of the issue that's on absolutley no-ones mind -just who will English Jews support in the then forthcoming England v Israel match. Personally I stayed neutral on the grounds that it wasn't possible to pick a side without someone throwing a shoe at my head.

Finally Pootergeek brings us the cute animal bit at the end. Well as near as we're getting to it here, unless I put up a picture of our Brian. Which I'm not.

Viewers in Scotland may wish to drop in on the Scottish Blogging Round Up here.

That's your lot for this week. Let's have your nominations here. Next week Jonathan Calder of Liberal England is doing the honours.

Good job. I think this passing of the baton every week is working nicely - and it'll do your visitor numbers no end of good!

Cheers for the mention. I will admit to looking back with rose tinted goggles on that one, but the new Taggart stuff is jaw droppingly bad.
