Wendy Alexander

Hello,
You will all be aware of the the Labour donations rows currently being splashed about the press. They really do have a cheek don't they? If I picked up the paper and they were trying to pass the whole thing off as socialist exercise in wealth redistribution I wouldn't so much as gasp.

There is of course the David Abrahams scandal engulfing the big Labour party and the other one rocking the 'wee pretendy Labour party' up here.

Whilst I can't say I'm surprised by any of it one aspect of the press surrounding Wendy Alexander's role in the debacle is puzzling me. Repeated reference is made to Ms Alexander's 'formidable intellect'. Whilst I'm quite sure she is a bit of a know it all - she has that frumpy look about her, we haven't seen much, if any evidence of it since she replaced Jack McConnell.

Everyone she's employed to deal with the press has been a disaster. How long before she gets so desperate she's forced to ask her election agent to step in as her spin doctor? If that were to happen not only would atheism be blown out the water but we'd know God had a cracking sense of humour.

Sadly I am but a humble oaf, well intentioned but easily distracted by shiny things -rather like a magpie and wouldn't know a 'formidable intellect' if it pinched my bum. But all this supports my suspicion that being clever in politics isn't a lot of use these days. Let's be honest it's wasted on most of us. Really Wendy would be better off with a big formidable set of hooters and a 'secret' sex tape which could have accidentally found it's way on to the internet when this scandal blew up. It wouldn't change any of the issues involved in her current troubles but it would be a hell of a diversion and ten times more effective than telling the press you're not going to resign and that it was all a big mistake every two minutes.

Clairwil,

Tell me you are joking. Terry Kelly is her election agent? This is beyond satire.

Douglas,
Not even I could make that up. It is the sorry, sorry truth. Scottish Labour really are experiencing something of a skill shortage.
