The Democratic Republic Of Clairwil

Hello,

I've been indulging my meglomaniac fantasties on Nationstates and now have my very own country to play with. Sadly the format doesn't allow me to sit about making up laws with gay abandon, instead I am presented with issues and given the opportunity to side with a particular view. This accounts for the terrible state of the economy, even I think a lower rate of 57% tax is taking the piss a bit.

Anyway I'm hoping someone will accuse me of tax and spend, so that I can give an answer inspired by the following from Mark Steel's excellent autobiography 'Reasons To Be Cheerful'.

'Labour said it was going to spend £600 million extra on education.......But they couldn't defend it. There would be Heseltine, 'Where's it going to come from, this £600 million? Tax tax tax tax tax.' And the Labour spokesman would look apologetic, as if he was about to say, 'Oo I'm sorry Mr Heseltine, I hadn't thought of it like that, maybe we'll phase it in over a hundred years a farthing at a time.' And I'd be thinking how I would love to be on the programme. Because when Heseltine asked where the money was coming from, I'd say, 'From you, thats where. You're worth 60million on your own, we only have to find nine of your mates and we've cracked it.'

Cheerio

No, but it gets worse. I've come over all Tony Blair and lurched to the right, quite by accident. Yesterday my country was a left wing utopia today it's a scandavian liberal paradise. Only three days in power and look what I've become! I don't know where it went wrong.

My new nation, The Federation Of Lunchtime Drinkers is up and running. I've just made voting compulsary and hope to spread slightly pissed happiness around the globe. A noble aim I think you'll find.
