I'm Back

Hello,
I've been off on one of my jaunts to Amsterdam for the last few days. It was all pretty much as I'd left it at the close of my last visit which is as I'd hoped. I've learned a few more words of Dutch by watching Dutch TV before bed. Full sentences are still beyond me but I hope to become fluent in time.

During this trip I lurked in a hotel on Gravenstraat just off Dam Square. The hotel was pretty standard really but Gravenstraat I liked very much. It had the air of being off the beaten track whilst having all the benefits of being smack bang in the middle of things.

You may also be pleased to hear that I am now officially Auntie Clairwil my sister in law having produced a niece to add to my blessings in life. The child is as yet unnamed and given that my brother intended to call it Thurston if it had been a boy I fear the worst.

The bad news is I returned home from my travels to a phone call from a somewhat put out Mr Clairwil who was wondering where I'd been for the last three days. Apparently he was sat up to all hours on Saturday night waiting for me to appear. Oh and yes I did tell him I was going away.

Right I'm off now to mentally prepare for the terrifying prospect of a family Christmas.
