Can The Government Get Any Funnier?

Hello,
I remember someone telling me way back in the early nineties that Labour governments were rubbish and recall being unconvinced. Not that I thought they'd be great or even good but for reasons that I cannot now understand I thought one wouldn't notice them as much.

Do you think they realise that they've blown it and are now setting about winding us all up in a fit of pique? I only ask because I can think of no other reason to give this man another job . To save you clicking on the link 'this man' is Paul Gray the big cheese who resigned after the department he was in charge of lost the personal details of 25 million child benefit claimants.

Incredibly this job will involve 'special projects to develop civil service skills'. Christ almighty he shouldn't even be allowed to do the photocopying. The excuse for this appointment that under the terms of his contract they need to pay him until the end of December. For the love of God he only resigned with effect from the 20th November. The man has admitted he's incompetent. What havoc could be wrought in six weeks? By an oaf with nothing to lose. There is a reason that people who resign in less than ideal circumstances are usually marched off the premises. It's to stop them sabotaging systems, hiding staplers and secreting prawns in the soft furnishings.

It is truly remarkable. We are governed by folk who think claiming ignorance of the law is sufficient to get one of the hook when facing the possibility of charges and that the continued active employment of a man who's last department exposed millions of people to the risk of identity fraud is in the public interest.

If Labour weren't such strangers to the truth they'd change their name to The Tumbletwit Wrecking Crew, exchange their ministerial limos for collapsing clown cars and only appear in public accompanied by Laurel and Hardy style comedy music. At least then, you couldn't fault the honesty of their presentation.

Cheerio
